Keith A. Rageth, 78, of Aurora, CO, previously of Iowa City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Chelsea Place Memory Care. Keith was born on January 21, 1938 in Hamburg, Iowa to William Henry and Velma Juanita (Zuck) Rageth. He had two older brothers, William Henry Rageth, Jr. and Max Elburn Rageth. He attended Park University until 1959, and finished his undergraduate work at Wesleyan University in Lincoln, NE. He continued his education at the University of Denver where received his master's degree. From there, Keith entered the US Army where he served from 1961 – 1964. Keith joined the Library staff at the University of Iowa in 1964 and worked in several different positions within the Library until his retirement in 2004 as Head of Access Services. He was a member of the American Library Association. He was a dedicated member of Trinity Episcopal Church and sang in the choir for many years. He was a Verger at Trinity and a longtime member of the Altar Guild and Vergers Guild of the Episcopal Church. Keith was also an accomplished organist and played in several churches before coming to Iowa City. Music played an important in his life. Keith was an avid reader and especially loved to travel. In the early years, he traveled in the United States but more recently he traveled to several destinations in Europe. Keith is survived by his brother Max and sister-in-law Cheryl Rageth; his nephew David and his wife Brenda; his great-nephews Michael and Greg; great-niece Mandy and her husband Jared VanTassel; and two great-great-nieces, Ayden and Avery. He is preceded in death by his parents; older brother William Henry, Jr. and his wife Mattie; and nephew Randall Lynn Rageth. A memorial service to honor and celebrate Keith's life will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016, 2:00PM at Chelsea Place Memory Care 14055 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80015. There will also be a memorial service in Iowa City on Friday, April 7, 2017, at Trinity Episcopal Church, 320 E College St, Iowa City, IA 52240. Please leave an online condolence below.
