Ken E. Lowe

Ken Lowe 82 of Franktown, CO passed away June 17th, 2016. Ken was born April 6th, 1934 in Akron, OH to Cloris West and Opelan Lowe. Ken is survived by his beautiful wife Cindi Lowe of 46 years, Sons Ken Lowe Jr. (Tami); Tim Lowe (Risma); Daughter Terri Lowe; Grand children Corey Lowe; and Dylan Lowe. Ken is preceded in death by his parents Opelan and Cloris Lowe, Brother Ernie Lowe, and Grandson Justin Lowe. Early in life Ken took an interest in automobiles and racing. As a young man, Ken began his career as the chief test driver for Goodyear Tire Development. As he became more experienced, Ken found the opportunity to become involved in Indy Car racing for the next 37 years as a Tire Engineer for Goodyear Racing Division; Manager of the PPG Pace Car Program and as a Race Steward for CART (Indy Car). Ken also took interest in Aviation where he established Ken Lowe Aircraft Sales. With Ken's expertise in aviation he quickly became a well known aircraft salesman that was highly referenced. Ken was also known for his involvement in Pikes Peak Auto Hill Climb where he served as Director of Competition, Chief Steward and Vice President of the Board. Ken was active in the Rocky Mountain Model A Ford Club where he served as a charter member. He was also a 30 year participant in the Colorado 500 Charity Motorcycle Ride. Ken will be well remembered for his expertise in all that he took pride. He will be remembered as a true family man, who loved Ice cream and could always tell the best jokes, Ken will forever be missed but his legacy will live on forever. Services for Ken will be held at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave Aurora, CO 80014 Saturday June 25th at 2:00PM. A Reception will also take place the Horan & McConaty following the Memorial Service for Ken at 3:00PM. In lieu of Flowers Ken's family ask that donations be made to Colorado 500 Charities.
