Ken Orr

Kenneth (Ken) Ray Orr, 53, of Thornton lost his battle with cancer while at the University Hospital in Aurora on March 21, 2014. Ken passed away surrounded by his family who loved him and whom he loved. Ken was born to Anita and Virgil Orr on November 14th, 1960 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from Weld Central Junior and Senior High School in 1979. He married Kathy Simmons on June 30th, 2001. Ken's professional career was extremely diversified. He worked as a carpenter, builder, salesman and machinist. He loved life and enjoyed many outdoor activities such riding motorcycles, fishing, and skiing, but his wife and son were the true joys of his heart. Ken is survived by his wife Kathy and son Ethan; mother Anita Orr; sisters Sharon (Bill) Akins, Lori (Hugo) Rodriguez, and brother David (Kim) Orr; in-laws Bob and Karen Simmons; and brother-in-law Scott (Kelli) Simmons; uncle of Stephen Akins, David Akins, Amanda Rodriguez, Bethany Rodriguez, Kasandra Rodriguez, Alysha (Nathan)Jensen, Alyssa (Jonny) DeVisser, Matthew Sagehorn, and Elise Simmons; and multiple great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Orr. A memorial education fund for Ken's son Ethan has been established.
