Kenneth N. Bredesen, M.D., 78, of Centennial, died on February 19, 2008 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Janet. They were both from Minneapolis, Minnesota. Sons Scott of Greenwood Village and Tom of Centennial, daughters Laura of Aurora and Judy of Colorado Springs, grandson Brian of Highlands Ranch, and wife Phyllis survive him. After receiving his M.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1956, he served as a doctor with the Navy and Marines for three years. Following his service, he completed his residencey in Psychiatry and worked in private practice for over 20 years. Interesed in teaching, he taught, part-time, at various medical levels in Minnesota, Colorado, and Washington, D.C. In addition, he was Chief Psychiatrist for the Peace Corps for over two years, and he actibely served as a consultant with the Peace Corps from 1962-1972. Early interest in music led to composing show tunes for his high school and an all-university musical. He was also a producer/director for CBS Television for two years. Interested in the community, he served as Colorado's Senior Consultant on Alcoholism, as well as Chief Psychiatrist for Colorado Social Services. He was president of three homeowner's associations, and he was active in politics from the age of 14. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (just west of Holly), in Centennial, Colorado.
