Kenneth Anthony Ferretti Sr, 71 years old, of Aurora, Colorado, formerly of Pittsburgh, PA, Morgantown, WV, and Clarksburg, WV, died unexpectedly on February 3rd, after 7 years of battling a debilitating disease.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Andrea, sons Ken Jr (Laurel) and Ty, and his three grandchildren Trey, Ella and Eve and his brother Richard (Jan) and many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.
Ken was born in Clarksburg, WV, and was preceded in death by his parents, Tiberio "Terry" and Theresa Ferrett, sister Carol Gould (husband Gary), and niece Carrie Lynn Nuzum. Ken attended Notre Dame Grade School and High School in Clarksburg, WV, and served as student body president, maintaining lifelong cherished friendships with many of his classmates.
Ken received his undergraduate Bachelors of Science in Chemistry degree from Wheeling Jesuit and West Virginia University School of Pharmacy and obtained his Doctorate in Pharmacy from Duquesne University. Ken’s love of academia drove him to pursue a Masters of Business Administration and Public Health Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Ken’s career path led him to leadership roles at the University of Iowa Poison Control Center in Iowa City, Iowa; Director of Outpatient Pharmacy/Infusion Services and Optical Care at West Virginia University Hospital in Morgantown, WV and most recently till retiring in 2018 as Director of Revenue Recovery at University of Colorado Health Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. He prided himself in the care he was able to provide through the many health care related business programs he developed and led and in the patient and personal consultations for family and friends his professional expertise afforded him to offer.
Ken was well known for his love of his family, faith and service to his community. He loved to travel with family and friends; was a gourmet cook; an accomplished Ironman triathlete, and enjoyed exploring the beauty of Colorado in skiing, fishing and camping.
His generosity was well known to many. He was very active member in his parish, Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church in Foxfield, Colorado, serving and supporting many ministries, with his time, talents and treasures.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Our Lady of Loretto in Foxfield, CO, on Friday, February 14 at 11:00 am MT. The funeral mass will be live-streamed on the parish website: https://www.ourladyofloreto.org/upcoming-funerals
