Kenneth Fleming

April 7, 1927 — September 20, 2018

Kenneth Vernon Fleming passed away peacefully Thursday, September 20 in Rollinsville, CO, with his daughter at his side.

Born April 7, 1927 in Denver, CO Ken spent his early years in the Globeville area of Denver. The experience of growing up on the streets of Denver in the 1930's began to form the man he would become. In 1944, at the age of 17 and with the blessing of his mother, Ken enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served 2 years as a Boatswain's Mate.

Following military service Ken returned to Denver, settled down and married his first wife, Margaret Rose Brungardt. They enjoyed 31 years together before she was taken from him. Following the death of Margaret, Ken was fortunate in meeting Carol Ciancio, who would become his second wife. Ken and Carrol were married for 35 years. Lucky twice in life!

Ken's experiences matured him into a man of honor with deep moral values. He lived by example. While facing his own challenges, he stayed the course over the length of his life, based on these values. He established life long relationships with people who's lives connected with his. His integrity ran deep, and those who knew Ken, knew he was a man of his word, and the handshake sealed the deal. Whatever the task ahead, Ken took it on with dedication and commitment; from his lifetime commitment to the Teamsters, home electronic and TV repair, photography, to supporting his church, the Knights of Columbus, and working with youth who needed a guiding hand.

The glimmer of his passion became a beam of guiding light for those lives he touched. His dedication to others had wide boundaries and his caring ran deep.

Ken often put other's needs before his own, and his ability to see and respect the differences among people was instrumental in honing his gifts of forgiveness and compassion.

Though Ken had an obsession for order and a moral standard that was often hard to to live up to, he matched that with a capacity for love and forgiveness for all.

Thanks to Ken, children, grand, and great grandchildren are making their marks on the world today inspired by his love and compassion.

Ken is survived by his wife Carol, sons Gerald Timothy Fleming and Kenneth Vernon Fleming Jr, and daughter Dianne Jeannine Fleming. Ken has 10 grand children, and 32 great grandchildren.
