Kenneth Robert Gumm came into this world on January 19, 1947, born to Kenneth and Margaret Gumm in Detroit, Michigan. He made his transition on May 25, 2017. Ken grew up on the tough streets of Detroit and spent much of his time living in the housing projects. Although going to an assorted eight different Detroit Public Schools, he went on to earn his BS degrees in Finance and in Economics, and then an MBA in Accounting from Wayne State University in Detroit. He served in the US Army and was a 'mustang', going from Sergeant First Class E-7 to a direct commission of 1st Lieutenant in the US Army Special Forces. That commission was an actual act of the U.S. Congress. He was proud of achieving the honor of becoming a Green Beret. Ken has been a faithful Unity student and member in the church for over 30 years and generously contributed to many causes in his life. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, his step father, Haskel Gumm, his brothers, Donald and Gregory Gumm, sisters Janice Marling and Sharon Beelby, and his son, Garry Scott McLaughlin. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Susan Gumm. She was his rock and he loved her very much. Also surviving Ken is a sister, Carol Ann Marling of Florida, son Colin (Kimsey) Gumm, daughter Shauna Gumm, nephew Donald (Jennifer) Gumm and their children Donovan and Nicole Gumm of New Baltimore, Michigan.
