Ken was born on February 15, 1930 in Englewood. As a young boy he lived on a dairy farm where the present day University Hills Shopping Center is located and herded cows where Wellshire Golf course is. He attended St. Louis Catholic School, Mullen High School and graduated from St. Joseph High School. As a young man he learned the tile trade, opening his own company, 'Ace Tile and Terrazzo Inc.' in 1950. Ken ran his business for 54 years completing such landmark projects as Stapleton Airport, DIA, Jefferson County Justice Center and the premier tile job in Colorado, The Pepsi Center. Ken was known and respected throughout the industry nationwide. In the 1970's he brought together the most talented group of office and installation personnel ever assembled in the tile industry to perform work for every major general contractor in Colorado and surrounding states. Ken was a demanding leader but never asked more of others than he demanded of himself. He was known for his love of T-Birds and bowling. Ken was an accomplished accordion player. The other love of Ken's life was his wife of 54 years, Mary. Together they traveled extensively but also loved taking long drives. Ken did not care so much for himself or money; the things that made him most happy were to see his employees be able to buy a home, send their kids to college and achieve their dreams. Ken was renowned for his photographic memory, especially phone numbers. One of Ken's favorite sayings was 'It's not the size of the man in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the man'.
HE WAS TRULY A LARGER THAN LIFE CHARACTER.
