Kenneth Byron Layton

July 6, 1941 — January 1, 2013

Kenneth Byron Layton, 71, passed away January 1, 2013, at his home in Littleton, Colorado surrounded by his family. Ken was born July 6, 1941, in Washington, DC to Paul and Edna Schaar Layton. He was raised in Kaysville, Utah and graduated from Davis High. He attended Utah State University in Logan, Utah where he met his sweetheart, Margene. They were married in the Logan, Utah LDS temple on September 25, 1964. In his early professional career they traveled all over the world and finally settled in Littleton, Colorado where they have lived for 36 years, having made lifelong friends along the way. Ken enjoyed being outdoors, camping, being a handyman, and spending time with his family. Ken served in various capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and most recently served a full-time mission with his wife in Mongolia. Ken is survived by his wife: Margene C. Layton; eight children: Shauna (Mike) Snider, Jenny Layton, Kevin (Tiffany) Layton, Kathy Layton, Steve (Megan) Layton, Dan (Amity) Layton, Debbie (Nathan) Feher, Marty (Megan) Layton; seventeen grandchildren; his two brothers: Dennis and Doug, and his sister Susan. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son, Chris Layton. A Funeral Service for Ken will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013, 11:00am, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 6705 South Webster Street, Littleton, CO 80128. The viewing will be held at the Church from 10:00am-10:45am. Burial will follow at the Littleton City Cemetery.
