Kenneth ""Ken"" McLeish, 66, of Westminster, Colorado passed away on March 3, 2020 at the Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center in Denver. Born on September 24, 1953 in Salzburg, Austria to Robert and Betty Jo (Armstrong) McLeish.
Ken lived in Austria, Delaware, Cuba, and Costa Rica before returning to the U.S. to San Antonio and Houston Texas as a teenager.
He enlisted in the Marine Corp at the age of 17 and went to Vietnam on the USS Tripoli. He was injured and discharged for medical reasons under honorable conditions.
Ken met his wife Kathy in 1987 in Texas and they were married on April 1, 1989. Ken started long haul trucking and moved to Colorado to continue trucking until medically retiring in 2012. He also ran his own gun business for over 30 years.
He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, and fishing.
He was a member of the American Legion, NRA benefactor member, and VOVMC: Veterans of Vietnam motorcycle club and became president of the club.
After his service he was a welder on an oil platform, merchant marines for 1 year to South America, ILC Space Systems - as a quality control engineer at NASA for 3 years until the shuttle exploded. Then attended law enforcement academy at Glynco, Georgia, and then worked for the department of justice BOP division.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kathy (Jensen) McLeish, son, Jerod (Texanne) of Texas,
step- daughter, Jennifer Schiffer of Texas, grandsons, Aaron and Andrew McLeish, granddaughters, Aubrey McLeish and Raya Harris, his mother, Betty Jo McLeish of Tennessee, sisters, Robin (Bruce) Roeschlein of North Carolina and Cindy Hall of Texas, half-brother, Bob (Linda) McLeish of California, brother-in-law, Rodney (Linda) Jensen of Iowa, long term friend and brother, Chris Tunnell of Arizona, and also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert McLeish, father-in-law, Roger Jensen, grandparents, John and Evalene McLeish, Edd and Savannah Armstrong, and his brother-in-law, Chris Hall.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 10:00am follow by a Funeral Service at 11:00am at Faith Bible Chapel, 6225 Wright Street, Arvada, Colorado 80004. Interment with military honors will take place in the Summer at Angel Fire Cemetery in New Mexico.
