Mr. Kenneth D. Ormsbee, age 88, passed away on Sunday, April 7th, 2019 in Centennial, Colorado.
He was born in Montague, Massachusetts on March 16, 1931 to Leslie Ormsbee and Margaret O'Connell.
Ken graduated from Pittsfield High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He raised his family in East Bloomfield, a rural town in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York, with his loving wife of 64 years, Marilyn Ormsbee. In 1978, Ken and his family relocated to what is now Centennial, Colorado. Ken was a self-made man who broke into the information systems industry at the time when mainframe computers were just becoming prevalent. After retiring from Martin Marietta, Ken and Marilyn took time to travel by RV and enjoy life and family.
Ken was an outdoorsman who loved to camp and fish. He also enjoyed building and flying radio-controlled model airplanes. Ken and Marilyn were proficient square dancers who enjoyed dancing over a span of nearly four decades. Although Ken wasn't a sports fanatic, he loved watching Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies games with his wife and kids.
Above all, Ken was a family man who deeply cared about his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. While his children were growing up, Ken was a little league coach, a Cub Scout Cubmaster, and a Boy Scout Troop Leader. He was a kind and caring person who was loved by virtually everyone who knew him; he will be greatly missed.
Mr. Ormsbee is survived by his wife, Marilyn; his children, Dan Ormsbee, Ken Ormsbee, Julie Meis, Bill Ormsbee, and Pete Ormsbee; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A private viewing is being held with immediate family members at Horan & McConaty funeral home in Centennial, Colorado.
