Kenneth Floyd Clark Major, USAF

Kenneth Floyd Clark Major, USAF (Ret) of Aurora, CO, passed away on October 16 at the age of 99 and 9 months. Kenneth was born in Millport, NY on January 4, 1919. He graduated from Horseheads High School in 1937. Ken enlisted in the Army Air Corp in 1942 as a pilot and flew missions throughout WWII and served during Korea, Vietnam and the Cold War. His military career encompassed the great heroism and patriotism of his generation. Following his retirement from the Air Force in 1966, Ken was employed as a flight instructor for United Airlines in Denver, CO. He developed training programs for both the 727 and the 747 aircrafts. He is credited with training the pilots in midair refueling procedures for the modified 747 aircraft that are commonly used by the president as Air Force One. He retired from United on July 1, 1991. Following his retirement from United, Ken continued to pursue his passions for all things western, skiing and the Denver Broncos. Ken was married to Jane Doyle McWhorter on January 13, 1943; they were married 44 years. Ken is survived by sons Terry L. Clark (Cyndie), Kenneth L. Clark (Ann), grandchildren Allyson (John) Fuchs, Rachel (Jacques) Perreault, Matthew, Kathryn, Connor, Kira, Scott and great-grandchildren, Ashley & Hannah. Ken is preceded in death by wife Jane and daughter Linda. Ken will be dearly missed for his humor, dedication, amazing stories and love for his family. Funeral service will be held on October 30th, 11:30 a.m. at Horan & McConaty, 5303 E. County Line Rd. Burial will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 2 p.m.
