Kenneth Lee Vaughn

June 30, 1939 — March 4, 2020

Kenneth Lee Vaughn, 80, of Lakewood, Colorado was born on June 30, 1939 in Sabinsville, Pennsylvania. He grew up in Kewanee, Illinois before attending Colorado School of Mines. He graduated from Mines in 1961 with a degree in Geological Engineering. After graduation he married his wife Gayle and served 2 years of military service in the U.S. Army Chemical Corp in Maryland, where he received advanced education/training in Data Processing which was the beginning of the computer industry. After completing his military assignment he relocated to Lakewood, Colorado to raise a family and begin a career in the computer industry. He began working for the computer company Univac and then eventually worked for Control Data Corporation for 25 years until his retirement.

After retirement he built a large woodworking shop next to his home. He spent the last 20 years of his life doing home improvement projects and enjoyed building custom furniture for his home. Ken loved living in Colorado and raising his family here. He enjoyed spending a lot of time in the Colorado mountains and taking long road trips to different parts of the United States. He also enjoyed many international trips of which Australia and New Zealand was his favorite.

Ken leaves behind his wife Gayle, children; Doug (Lisa) and Debbie (David), grandchildren; Savannah, Cheyenne, Austin, Skylar, and Piper, a brother Art, and a sister Diane. He will be forever missed.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Horan & McConaty, 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard, Lakewood, Colorado 80227. Burial will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
