Kevin Albert Chance, 64, passed away in his sleep in his home in Lakewood, CO. Kevin was an independent taxi driver, known as KC Cabbie, providing safe transport to many regular clients throughout Denver. He was a loving father to his 19 year old son, Carson Chance and friend to Carson’s mother, Cindy Taylor. Kevin’s family includes mother Nancy Chance, 98, and sister Bonnie Chance, both residing in Denver, and 6 cousins. Kevin served in the Air Force as a heavy equipment operator until 1983. He was born May 8, 1960 and succumbed to heart disease on November 6, 2024. He maintained friendships from his junior and senior high school days at John F. Kennedy, in DPS, as well as over 700 friends per Facebook and in the community. Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Grady M. Chance, who was a teacher and principal in the Denver Public Schools for 35 years and passed in 2001.
Kevin was known as an avid storyteller and was attempting to publish his humorous Santa Claus story. He was active in track and swimming as a young man, and collected automobiles. He built 2 houses and worked construction on many others. He and Carson did a cross-country trek from the East Coast through Washington DC and major cities to return west to Colorado. He loved animals and had cats throughout his life His legacy lives on in the remembrance of all the people he helped through dark nights and chauffeured, counseled and made laugh.
Funeral services will take place at Horan McConaty in Lakewood, CO on Tuesday, November 26 at 1:00 p.m. The Veterans Burial service will be at Fort Logan Cemetery at 2:30 pm and all are welcome. There will be a celebration of life happy hour to share funny stories held at Lakewood Bar & Grill at 5:00 p.m.
