Kevin Jeffery Watt

In the early morning hours of Sunday October 7, 2007 Kevin Jeffery Watt departed this life after being struck by a vehicle shortly after attending Saturday night's baseball game and dramatic victory for the Colorado Rockies. Though born in Syracuse, New York, he was a third generation resident of Denver, Colorado. He was an Eagle Scout and a 2001 graduate of C.W. Baker High School in Baldwinsville, NY. As part of his studies, Kevin had traveled abroad to the British Isles, Spain, Japan, Switzerland, Mexico, New Zealand and he was scuba certified at the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. He graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2005 with a BA in Economics and English Creative Writing. He was inducted into Phi Sigma Theta National Honor Society at the University of Colorado. He wrote poetry which was featured on the buses of Boulder and published in two anthologies. At the time of his death, he was employed as an analyst in the health and benefits department of Aon Consulting. He was nearing completion of Aon's Early Career Development Program. Kevin was an avid outdoorsman who fished, hiked , and climbed the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains of New York and seven of the Fourteeners in Colorado. He loved his life in Colorado. Kevin is survived by his mother, Kathleen and his brother Brian. His father, Charles, passed away in 1997. He is also survived by his Aunt and Uncle Betty Anne (Ken) Neudeck; aunts Loretta Kulick, Mary (Bob) Woodard, Claire (Bob) Stewart; uncles Bill (Isabel) McLaughlin, James (Dianne) McLaughlin; cousins Michael Neudeck, Marilyn (Mike) Dicken, Nan (Paul) Gefreh, James B. McLaughlin, Michael and Julie McLaughlin, Bridgette (Phillip) O'Connell, Gordon Ruckdeschel, Karen Castro, Kimberly and Crystal McLaughlin and a vast amount of friends and colleagues around the world. All who knew him cherished and will miss his gentle, empathic spirit and positive outlook on life. Kevin was a young man of tremendous character who left large footprints on the hearts of all who knew him. Visitation will be from 11am-1pm, Sunday, October 14, 2007 with a Memorial Service following at 1pm. Both will be held at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 3101 S. Wadsworth Blvd., Lakewood. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse, NY, where he will be laid to rest with his father.
