Kiel Allen Pickett

Kiel Allen Pickett (26) of Englewood, CO passed away at his home on January 24, 2019. He was born in Denver on February 18, 1992.

Kiel is survived by his parents, Greg and Gale; by the love of his life, Jo; his maternal grandmother, Jodell Grigsby Wright; his paternal grandparents, Leo and Carolyn Pickett; his sisters, Mikayla and Cortnie; his nephews, Dylan and Brayden; along with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Kiel is preceded in death by his grandfather, Edward Elex Wright.

Kiel graduated from Cherry Creek HS in 2010 where he held several state track records. He went to the University of Wyoming on a track scholarship and then transferred to University of Colorado where he graduated in 2014 with a degree in Anthropology/Archeology. Kiel loved climbing, the outdoors and traveling. His dream was to climb Mt. Everest . He had climbed half of the Colorado Fourteeners in preparation for his dream. Kiel loved music. He played the violin early in his life, but his love was his guitars. Kiel also excelled in linguistics. He spoke four languages and loved learning new ones. Kiel was beginning his dream of becoming a physician's assistant. He was working as a medical scribe. He wanted to give back and help others.

Kiel's spirit was deeply rooted in his Scandinavian heritage and he loved all things Norway. His soul will live on in Valhalla, as all great Vikings do. Kiel was the shining light of every life he touched. He was a loving son, grandson, partner, brother and uncle. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

A memorial service and reception will be held Friday, February 1, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Horan & McConaty, 5303 County Line Road, Centennial CO 80122.
