Korie was raised in Holyoke, Colorado. Her childhood passions were spending time with family, friends, and serving the Lord. In high school Korie traveled across seas for mission work. She enjoyed time in Swizterland as well as Bali and Jakarta located in Indonesia. Korie loved helping others and teaching about the work of God. She graduated from Holyoke High School in 1995 and moved to Fort Collins then to Greeley. After Greeley, Korie moved to Denver where she studied criminal justice and received her associates and bachelors degrees in crimanl justice. She loved working with juveniles. Korie was married to the love of her life, Terry. The two have lived in Denver now for a few years with their favorite animals Bear and Jelly Bean. This dog and cat have been their pride and joy. Korie up until her death enjoyed spending most of her time with Terry. They loved watching sporting events together. Korie especially loved watching the Broncos. She also was very loyal to her family and friends. She was the friend everyone wished they had, always bending over backwards. Her nephew Jacob was one of her favorite people. She felt great joy in spoiling him rotten. Korie was very competitive too and had fun playing sports, like volleyball, with friends. Korie's walk with the Lord started as a child and continued up until her passing. She had an amazing faith and loved being involved in her church, something Korie and Terry did together. She was looking at doing more mission work, especially with children. Still to this day her mission was to help children and teach them about God. Korie was an independent, courageous, passionate, loyal, and loving person who will be missed by all. She will be remembered for her contagious laugh and beautiful smile. You have now reunited with your mom. God bless your soul our beautiful Korie. You will live in our hearts and memories forever. Korie started with the Department of Corrections on May 1, 2011. She worked at Fremont, La Vista, Denver Women's Correctional Facilities, as a Pre-Release Specialist. She eventually transitioned to the Parole Division working at the Broadway Parole Headquarters and the Westminster Parole office as a Community Re-Entry Specialist. Throughout her time with the division Korie has helped hundreds of offenders in reintegrating back into society. This included housing, medications, employment, financial, education, and anything else she was able to help the person to succeed. Beyond this she has also assisted with Specialized Women's Programs and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy groups. Since coming to the Westminster Parole office, Korie brought a unique energy and personality that brought smiles and laughter to her co-workers everyday. She was there for us all and used her gift of loud laughter to help others with stress of the day/job.. An example of her personality is her most recent joke was: ""What do you call a bear with no teeth?"" answer ""A gummy bear."" The loss of Korie is being felt by everyone who had the honor and privileged of calling her not only a co-worker, but a friend. We love you and we will miss you everyday.
