L. Michael Lipnick

L. Michael Lipnick was born in Denver, Colorado on August 21, 1940 to Herbert and Dorothy Lipnick. Mike attended Denver Public Schools participating in junior ROTC, graduating from North High School in 1958. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Coast Guard serving four years with assignments in Hawaii, New York, and California. Upon discharge, Mike returned to Colorado and attended Colorado State University. Moving back to Denver Mike sold insurance, worked for the US Post Office, and the IRS. In 1971, Mike married Ruth Schepflin. They settled in Aurora and welcomed their two children Heather and Michael. After retiring from the IRS, Mike started his own tax service. Using this skill, Mike volunteered tax services at the VA hospital. Other volunteer positions included ushering at the Denver theater, working at the MS 150 bike race and coaching and refereeing various Aurora soccer leagues. Mike enjoyed fishing trips to the mountains and relaxing with his family in Estes Park, Winter Park, and Breckenridge. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. After a long battle with diabetes and heart disease, Mike died May 15, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was a member of Christ the Savior Lutheran Church in Aurora and is survived by dedicated wife Ruth, daughter Heather and son-in-law Alan, and their children Abby and Allison; son, Michael and daughter-in-law Sara, and their children Haven and Norah Luncheon Reception will be Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 12:00 Noon, Christ the Savior Lutheran Church, 1092 South Nome Street, Aurora, Colorado.
