Lamont Harris, husband, father, barbeque connoisseur, sports fan, comic book aficionado, smartass and all-around amazing man, left this earth suddenly on June 28, 2019 from an unknown cause at Presbyterian St. Luke's.
Lamont loved his family, bacon grease, ""white people"" music, and random tidbits of knowledge. He left this world a little bit dimmer without his smile to illuminate any room, strong silent presence to offer support and mood swings to keep everyone on their toes. He took cooking very seriously and introduced us all to the goodness of real barbeque. Lamont enjoyed long walks down the spice isle, concocting his own recipes and spending quality time with his smoker. Nothing brings people together better than food and Lamont made sure everyone saw each other several times a year.
Brooklyn proclaimed, but Colorado is where he resided for many years. Lamont's friendly demeanor, quick wit and intelligence made him a phenomenal salesperson in the telecommunications field. He couldn't go anywhere without knowing someone. An avid sports fan, Lamont could often be found supporting the New York Yankees, Knicks or Giants. Beyond watching sports, he was a natural athlete. Lamont played basketball, helped his son with baseball & football, and just a few years ago became a bowler. Joining his wife and kids in the bowling alley 3 to 5 days per week, he quickly earned respect of his peers. He may not have had the ""balls"" to get his future wife's number when they first met, but he had 10 to choose from for the lanes.
Lamont was a family man above all else. Never boisterous, he could always be found in the background of family gatherings. Lamont enjoyed vacationing with Samantha and the kids to destinations including Las Vegas, San Diego and Lake McConaughy. After working on his tan, he enjoyed cooking over an open fire and playing in the water. Lamont was fond of comic books and legos, a trait he shared with Mason. At any point, he could give you the backstory to any superhero/villain or build you a replica. His love for shoes, and his Leya's lack therein, was a point of contention. They also bonded over target practice, Greek Mythology and standing together against the ""momma"". Both were quick witted and smart-mouthed, an endearing trait that will be missed. Lamont was known for beating Samantha at shooting hoops at Dave & Buster's, as well as, randomly dancing with her to their song Tennessee Whiskey.
This amazing, kind, beautiful, and caring man leaves behind his wife Samantha Coleman; children Leya Coleman, Mason Harris, Sierra Harris and Stephon Harris; grandson Alijah Rodriguez; parents William L. Harris and Pamela Harris; brother Will Harris and his wife Stacy; aunt Lisa Whitney-Yard and uncle Brian Tyson; nephew Christian Harris; he also had three great aunts; one great great aunt; and cousins from New York and Atlanta.
