LaMonte B. Stewart, Jr.

LaMonte B. Stewart, Jr. of Arvada, passed away December 29, 2012 after a short battle with bladder cancer. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 53 years Liz; children Michael L., Roxanne M. (Steve) Martin, Deanna L. (Eric) Smith, and Danial J.; Sister Jeannene (Dick) Stueckrath, 5 granddaughters, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous sister-in-laws and brother-and-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents. He was born June 7, 1939 to Dorothy and LaMonte B. Stewart, Sr. in DeLand, Florida. In 1948 LaMonte, his mother and sister Jeannene moved to Plainview, Nebraska. He graduated from Plainview high school in 1957. In 1959 LaMonte and Liz were married and moved to Colorado and have remained there and were blessed with 4 children. He worked in the grocery business and construction as well. He retired from Rocky Flats after 22 years. His hobbies included firearms, hunting, fishing, horseshoes, RV-ing, ""Snowbirds,"" yard work, fixing things, camping, and hiking. He belonged to a gun club, and a Pinochle group and he liked cards in general. He loved to play Cribbage and played weekly. A Celebration of Life will be held on, Friday, January 11, 2013, 10:30am at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 7577 West 80th Avenue, Arvada, CO 80003. Services conclude in the chapel.
