Lance David Merric

Lance David Merric, 25, of Thornton, died Thursday August 18, 2011. He was born April 18th, 1986 in Aurora, Co. He attended Ponderosa Elementary, Skyview Elementary, Century Middle School, and Thornton High School. Lance graduated with honors and received an International Baccalaureate Diploma from Thornton High School in 2004. He completed an English degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2009. Lance had finished student teaching at Westlake Middle School and was in the process of applying for a teaching license. Lance was an avid reader and enjoyed movies and video games. He dreamed of becoming a teacher of English or Science to Middle School students. He will be deeply missed by his immediate and extended families. Lance is survived by his father, Mark Merric and stepmother Zenaida Merric, his mother Sonja Hummel and stepfather David Hummel, his brother Aaron and stepsister Shannon. He also leaves his maternal grandparents, Dan and Carolyn Hansen of Lakewood, Colorado; and his paternal grandparents Earl and Peggy Cochran of Roswell, New Mexico in addition to many aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial Service will be held Thursday, August 25, 2011, 3:00PM at Green Mountain Presbyterian Church, 12900 West Alameda Parkway, Lakewood, Colorado 80228.
