After a two-month battle with organ failure, my dear, sweet, kind husband passed away on Sunday, March 23, at the age of 72.
Larry was born and raised in Denver. He has an older sister, Theresa, and younger brother, Rick, deceased, parents Rich and Betty Davis. Larry came from a background of little money. When he was 10, he decided to help himself by delivering newspapers for the Rocky Mountain News and Denver Post. In the summer he and a buddy would mow neighborhood lawns. When Larry was 16, he had a run-in with an algebra teacher in high school which led him to drop out of school. He could never unburden himself from the stigma of being a high school dropout.
Working and being successful became Larry’s goals. His main profession in life was working in sales and distribution for the Adolph Coors Company. During his 17 years at Coors, he had many achievements. He was named employee of the year 3 times and won two major sales incentives which sent him and his family to Hawaii, twice! Remarkably, throughout his career at Coors, he never gave up the newspaper business. He worked as a distributor and was proud that he paid his deliverers a living wage and always paid them on time.
Larry’s two children, daughter, Jennifer and son, Jeffrey were the pride and joy of his life. His goal was to provide them with the opportunities he didn’t have. We took family vacations, camped by the Taylor River outside of Gunnison, and encouraged school and extracurricular activities.
From the time I was 17 years old, he was my world. I will miss him dearly.
His Loving Wife,
Debbie
