Larry was welcomed into this world July 25, 1934 by his parents, Vera and Lawrence, and two adoring sisters, Dorothy and Ruth. He grew up in Denver, attending Steck Grade School, Gove Junior High School, and East High School. He loved to tease and his outgoing personality attracted many friends. He spent his time boating, skiing, building a fiberglass race car, and mentoring his two young nephews, Harry and Larry, and his niece, Louise.
In 1952, he went to Whittier College and then joined the Marines as an airplane mechanic. He served from 1953-1957 in Japan during the Korean conflict, and a few more years stateside in the reserves. He met and Married Marge in 1960 and had three children: Jim (Stephanie), Susan (Jack), and Dave (Amy). He worked as a technical representative, repairing and maintaining blueprint and copy machines.
His passion became sailing when he bought a Styrofoam Sunfish in Wisconsin in the early 70's. He went on to own four other sailboats and spent countless hours at the helm. He chartered and captained at least ten different sailboats in the British Virgin Islands, where he loved sharing this experience with many family members and friends. He later turned his love of sailing into building magnificent wooden models.
Larry and Marge also enjoyed multiple cruises and trips overseas with family and friends. He loved and adored his seven grandchildren: Jordan, Joshua, Krystal, Lauren, Nicholas, Angelene, and Koah, and his one Great Granddaughter, Lexington. He spent his final years struggling with COPD and peacefully passed away November 27 in his home with his family by his side. He will be remembered for his quick wit, engaging smile, and readiness to give a hug. He will be greatly missed by all.
