Larry Allen Fivecoats peacefully passed away at age 71 on July 18, 2018 after a two-year battle with cancer. Larry was born in Lebanon, Indiana to the late Velma and Kenneth Fivecoats.
Larry was a husband to his beautiful wife of 46 years Trish, a father to his amazing children John, Emily, and James, and a grandfather to the most beautiful grandchildren Olivia, Nicholas, and Kora. His brother Earl and sisters Margie and Ruth will also lovingly remember him.
A Veteran of the Vietnam War, Larry served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1971 as a Special Forces, Green Beret Paratrooper. During his service he received the Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman's Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal and a Purple Heart.
Larry was a source of strength and inspiration for those that were fortunate to know him. He struggled with PTSD from his time in the war, but came out the other side that much stronger. In his later years, Larry was committed to helping others with their struggles by working with Project Healing Waters, an organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled veterans by using the sport of fly-fishing as a rehabilitation tool.
Friends and family are welcome to attend the graveside service on Thursday, July 26 beginning 9:30 AM at Fort Logan National Cemetery (Staging Area B), 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver, Colorado, 80236.
Following the service, there will be a Celebration of Life from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at Emily Miller's home at 10404 Evansville Cir, Parker, Colorado, 80134.
