Larry Lee McCray (78) passed away in his home in Parker CO, unexpectedly with his loving daughter, Lacey Lee Draayer on Thursday, December 8th. Larry was born July 3, 1944 to Walter and Sue McCray in Los Angeles, CA. He is survived by his children: Brandie Marotta of Kings Park, NY (Husband Paul and children Josie Isabella and James); Lacey Draayer of Parker, CO (Husband McKenzie and children Avianna and Mileena); Brother Steven McCray of Colorado Springs, CO; Scott and Judy McCray (Nephew and Niece), Jeff and Betty McCray (Nephew and Niece).
Larry was an Army Veteran who served his country in the Vietnam War. After an honorable discharge, he started his career as a 4th grade teacher in Denver. Larry then went on to law school and became an established attorney in Pueblo, Colorado until he retired in 2013, when he traveled to different National Parks as a campground host. He then was able to live out his dream taking care of his grandchildren.
Larry was an avid outdoor enthusiast, who loved skiing, hiking, camping and 4-wheel driving. There was nothing like exploring the outdoors and finding wildflowers. He loved music and swinging around the dance floor. He taught his family how important it was to respect and protect nature. Larry loved to spend his free time reading and watching football. Larry was an incredible father who was always there for his family and showed his girls love, happiness and strength.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at T.G McCarthy Funeral Home at 11am Thursday, December 15, 2022. Address: 329 Goodnight Ave Pueblo, CO 81004. Lunch to follow at Brues Alehouse Brewing Co. at noon.
