Larry Parsons

Lawrence Eugene Parsons “Larry” died on April 17, 2022 in Westminster, CO. Larry was born on September 28, 1931 to Robert and Donna Hansen Parsons in Quinter, KS.

He served in both the Army and the Marines in the Korean War. He graduated from Fort Hays State University with a BS in education and from Emporia State University with a MS in Counseling and EDS in administration. He was a dedicated coach, educator, and administrator in the Cimarron, KS Public Schools and the El Dorado Public Schools.

Larry was a volunteer at Rocky Mountain National Park; a life member of the National Education Association; Masonic Lodge member since 1953; a life member of the VFW and American Legion; a member of the Kappa Sigma Kappa fraternity; and a member of Westminster Christian Church.

He married Carolyn “Jodi” Kephart at Grace Methodist Church in Macksville, KS, July 29, 1960 and she survives. His three children are Julie Parsons, Westminster, CO; Jeff and Lisa Parsons, Monett, MO; and Jay and Gina Parsons, Overland Park, KS. His grandchildren are Sam Nelson, Westminster, CO; Olivia Parsons, Overland Park, KS; Jillian Parsons, Overland Park, KS; Matthew Lawrence, Cassville, MO; and Jake and Ashleigh Nelson, Cassville, MO. His great-grandchildren are Haiden Nelson and Jace Nelson, Cassville, MO.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents as well as sisters, Roberta Thornburgh and Beverly Smith and his brother, Max Parsons.

A visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, from 4pm-7pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant St., Thornton, CO 80229.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 23, at 10am at Westminster Christian Church, 3575 W. 96th Ave., Westminster, CO 80031.

The interment with full military honors will follow at Christus Garden in Olinger Highland Memorial Gardens, 10201 Grant St., Thornton, CO 80233.
