Larry Saavedra of Highlands Ranch, Colorado died unexpectedly on March 2, 2011. He was born on November 3, 1937 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Larry was a neighborly man who made friends easily with his gift of conversation, laced with much humor. He loved his family passionately. After working in the transit department in Albuquerque for 28 years, Larry and his wife Jan of 52 years moved to Colorado to begin their retired lives together. They made many trips to see the world and to reconnect with family in Albuquerque. Larry is survived by his wife Janice; daughter Gail Pennels and her husband Chris of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; grandchildren Brian (Brandi) Harris and great granddaughter Ellie, Patrick (Christine) Harris and great granddaughter Avery, and Daniel (Sandy) Harris; daughter Lori Cruz and her husband Donald of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren Donald and Taylor Cruz; son Lawrence David Saavedra and his wife Sharon of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren Katelyn, Gregory, Gabriella and Mariella Saavedra; and his brothers and sisters Bettie Ramirez, Robert Saavedra, Naydene Baca, Leroy Saavedra, Carol Chavez and Darlene Saavedra. He was a man of strong religious beliefs and dedicated to helping family, friends and neighbors. Recitation of the Rosary will be held Monday, March 7, 2011, 11:00 A.M. followed by the Funeral Mass, 11:30 A.M., both at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 8035 South Quebec Street, in Centennial, Colorado.
