Larry J. Schilling

Larry J. Schilling died on August 7, 2013 at Littleton Adventist Hospital. He was born on December 30, 1930 in Ford County, Kansas, son of Everett and Mildred (Searle) Schilling. He married Anna M. Smyres on October 5, 1958 and they shared 54 wonderful years together. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He worked for Dodge City's electric company for 32 years and retired in February 1995. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and spending time with his grandkids. Survivors include his wife Annie, son Neil and daughter-in-law Dawn and two grandchildren, Tyler Dawn and Ethan Slade. Other survivors include: one brother Phil and wife Joyce Schilling of Dodge City; four sisters, Wanda Ingram of Cimarron, Marilyn Ellis of Kingsdown, Kay Rose of Dodge City, and Peggy and husband Jerome Holden of Tulsa OK; three sisters-in-law, Janet and husband Stan Peters of Edmond, OK, Susan and husband Charles Lowe of Aurora, CO, and Shirley Martinec and husband Frank; one brother-in-law Charlie Golliher of Las Vegas, NV and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by two brothers, Lloyd and Troy Schilling. He was a member of Wilroads Gardens Christian Church in Dodge City and South Suburban Christian Church in Littleton, Colorado. Funeral services will be held at Wilroads Gardens Christian Church on August 14, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Jeff Hiers presiding. Burial will follow the service at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wilroads Gardens Christian Church, c/o Swaim Funeral Home 1901 6th Ave., Dodge City, KS 67801, South Suburban Christian Church, 7275 South Broadway, Littleton, CO 80122.
