Larry W. Shoemaker, 80, peacefully passed away in his sleep at his home on January 10, 2016 after a long courageous battle with lung disease and leukemia. Larry was born, May 5th, 1935 in Denver, CO. After high school he started working at Keebler while attending college for mechanical design. During a portion of his 29 year tenure, Larry made up multiple reasons to visit the company nurse, Lillian. After several attempts he finally convinced her to marry him June 11th, 1977. Lil was the love of his life and he never failed to tell her daily how very much he loved her. Besides his wife, Larry also loved cars, motorcycles, animals of all kinds, and his beautiful daughters. He will be remembered as one of the kindest, most generous people who would never pass a homeless person on the corner without stopping to give them a donation. Larry's survivors include his wife of 38 years, Lillian (Greenfield) Shoemaker, 3 daughters; Kelly Danenhauer, Mary Lynn Mayfield, and Tracey Strange, 7 grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 am, Friday January 15th at Bear Creek Presbyterian Church, 3101 South Kipling St, Lakewood.
