Laura was born April 2, 1953 in Anchorage, Alaska (before it was officially a state). She passed away peacefully in the loving arms of her husband, Bob, and surrounded by family, on March 12, 2019, after battling cancer.
Laura was raised in Cripple Creek, Colorado, and she moved to Denver in 1977.
She and Bob were married on February 22, 1992.
Her many and varied interests included antique currency and collectibles, Great Danes, vintage jewelry and keeping Bob in line. She was an accomplished seamstress and was masterful at knowing the true value of life and the things with which we fill it. She spent the last 25 years as a dedicated Real Estate Appraiser.
Her final gift was donating her beautiful eyes so that another person can see the beauty this world has to offer.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dean Warren Sawyer and Velma Velora Sawyer, along with her Great Danes: Brina, Maggie, Sam, Fergie and Fiona.
She is survived and will be missed by her husband, Robert Schalk; sister, Veldean (Kirk) Myers; brother, Patrick (Melissa) Sawyer; sisters-in-law, Mary Jensen, Susan Foster, Joan Rosellen, Gina (Ken) Sayers; brother-in-law, Joe (Rachel) Schalk; nephews and nieces, Alicia Petri, Elliott Petri, Ian Sawyer, Abigail Sawyer, Scott Jensen, Michelle Jensen, Cindi Jensen, Jill Jensen, Tera Slawson, Kyle Foster, Owen Schalk and Bridget Schalk; her two Great Danes, Sawyer and Anita and kitty cat, Mickie.
