Laurell C. Wahl

July 11, 1931 — February 11, 2012

Laurell was born to Cecil and Laura Statzer in Pullman, Washington on July 11, 1931. After her father retire, they moved to Eugene, Oregon where she graduated from high school. She met her husband, Vernon on a blind date while attending Sacred Heart School of Nursing in Spokane, Washington. After Graduating she worked full time as a nurse until their first child was born, and Laurell became a full time mother. As her husband served over 28 years in the Air Force, Laurell raised their four children with tenancy while he served away on many temporary duty assignments. Although this task was very hard on her, Laurell never complained or felt sorry for herself, but rather served as a pillar of strength for her children while their father was serving our country. She was a kind and loving wife and mother, as well as an avid bowler who enjoyed bowling in tournaments with her fellow teammates and bowling partners. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Vernon, of Centennial; son, Randy and his wife Julia of Westminster; son, Kenneth and his wife Marit of Thornton; daughter, Denise Hackett and her husband Ron of Centennial; son Douglas and his wife Joann of Madison, Wisconsin; and seven grandchildren: Eric Hackett, Kyle Hackett, Kirby Wahl, Debra Wahl, Christopher Wahl, Elizabeth Wahl and Robby Wahl. Her sister Eileen Taylor, and brother Cecil Statzer preceded her in death. Laurell entered into rest on February 11, 2012 at the Life Quality Homes of Denver for Alzheimer's patients. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 16, 11:30 pm (with viewing one hour prior) at Saint Mary Catholic Parish, 6853 S. Prince Street, Littleton, CO. Interment will follow at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 1:15 pm, Staging Area ""C"". Please share your memories of Laurell by connecting to the ""Sign Guestbook"" link below.
