Lavell Williams, Jr. was born to Lavell Willams, Sr. and The late Velora Williams in St. Louis Missouri on March 31, 1948. Lavell was raised in the greater St. Louis area and graduated from Cahokia High School in Centerville, MO. He continued his education at Southern Illinois University where he studied Computer Science. Lavell married Diane Rogers in 1971. One child was born to this union, Kamilah Danette Williams-Kemp. This marriage was later dissolved. In 1985, Lavell met Shirley Neddle at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church where they were married on June 29, 1985. Through this union Lavell was blessed with four step-children, Craig H. Neddle, Rhonda M. Lohmar, Sonja R. (Bruce) Todmann, and Veronica L. (Anthony) Smith. Lavell and his family moved to Colorado in July of 1985 where he was employed by Martin Marietta and later employed by Fed-Ex in 1996. After visiting many churches, Lavell and Shirley joined New Hope Baptist Church in 1987 where he served faithfully as a choir member (Williams Ensemble), Sunday school teacher, Youth director, church photographer, and was ordained on the Deacons Board Lavell leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Shirley Williams; his father, Lavell Williams, Sr.; Aunts Lillie M. Tomlin, and Grace Morris, and Uncle Roy Houston; five children, five grandchildren and numerous relatives and friends.
