Laverna Lane Wygant

LaVerna Lane Wygant entered into eternal life on Dec. 10, 2017 in Denver Colorado at the age of 98. She was born in River Falls Wisconsin in 1919 to Alfred and Merle McLaughlin, their only child. After high school graduation and cosmetology school she married William M. Lane Sr. and moved to Elk River MN. where she lived and worked on the family vegetable farm with their 3 children for many years. LaVerna was a long-time employee of Georges Super Valu in Elk River as the manager of their Health and General Merchandise Dept. before retiring in 1979. She re-married (Charles Wygant) and moved to Palmdale CA. in 1982 where they were active members of First United Methodist Church and she took charge of the church Bread Ministry for 23 years prior to her last move to Denver CO. to be with family in 2010. She is survived by her three children from first marriage: Cindy Barker (Jack) Denver CO, William Lane Jr. El Paso TX and Jeffrey Lane (Tracy) Plano TX. Six Grandchildren; Roy Fournier (Jodi) Parker CO., Michelle Watson (Clayton) Castle Rock CO., Brenda Williams (Mark) Centennial CO., Jamie Lane Hurst TX., Jenna Denson (Seth) Prosper TX., Ashley Barger McKinney TX. Ten Great Grandchildren and Three Great-Great Grandchildren . Additional step- survivors from her second marriage: Kay Wygant (Dwight) Palmdale CA., Donna Wygant (Charles Jr.) Palmdale CA., Charla Townsed Nappa ID., Six Grandchildren; Jamie Taylor (Michael), Cortes Hill CA., Brad Wygant (Heather) Palmdale CA. Kevin Wygant (Cindy) Palmdale CA., Darrin Wygant Palmdale CA., Sheila Waldon (James) Nappa ID., Christopher Townsed Nappa ID. And 12 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in Death by her father, Alfred McLaughlin, mother, Merle McLaughlin, husband, William Lane Sr. and second husband Charles Wygant. LaVerna enjoyed reading and watching the California Angels baseball team games, as well as spending time with her many friends and family throughout the years. Her strong devotion to the Lord Jesus Christ was above all her greatest pastime. A memorial service will be held 2 PM. January 13, 2018 at Horan & McConaty 5303 E. County Line Rd. Centennial, CO 80122 for family and friends. Interment will be along side her Mother and Father at St. Andrews Cemetery in Elk River, MN. in the days following.
