Our beloved Laverne Mary Langlais passed away peacefully on January 2, 2022. She was 93. Laverne was born on November 2, 1928 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Theodore and Marie Beernsten. She married her love, Clayton Langlais in September of 1948 and went on to have nine children: Steven, Michael, Patrick, Brian, Patricia, Christopher, Paul, Kevin, and Kathy. In a span of 19 years, they lived in Minnesota, Iowa, and Colorado; settling in Denver in 1967.
Laverne was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children, her 15 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. She was kind to everyone and always made people around her laugh.
Laverne held her first job at the phone company where she worked as a switchboard operator. She later helped run the family’s religious goods store while raising eight of her children. Laverne was ardent about helping others, volunteering at the church, and sharing her favorite book, God Calling.
Laverne loved going on picnics, John Wayne movies, theater, dancing and music, and enjoyed listening to her son, Michael and grandson, Tyler play the piano. She took French lessons, enjoyed sewing, was an avid gardner, and was passionate about holistic health and fitness. She taught exercise classes to all ages for more than 30 years.
Laverne was predeceased by her husband, Clayton and her brother, Don. She is survived by her children, her sister, Margaret, and brothers, Leroy and Jerry.
We take comfort in knowing that Laverne is now at peace surrounded by light. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
