Lawrence E. Brown

Lawrence Everett Brown of Aurora entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, October 23, 2009. Born in Castle Rock, Colorado on July 14, 1918, he graduated from Castle Rock High School class of 1936 and entered college at the University of Denver in the fall of 1937. Immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served a total of 36 months combat duty in the Pacific Theatre with the First, Second, and Sixth Marine Divisions. He was awarded battle stars for three campaigns: American Defense, Peleliu, and Okinawa. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and pursued a successful 35 year career with the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors, subsequently founding a successful engineering consulting firm. He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 65 years Velma nee Mott of Edgewater; brother Forrest of Windsor, Ontario; sons Steven Michael of Littleton and Jeffry Paul of Old Brookville, New York; grandchildren Shaun, Todd, Christian, Brittni, Blake, Skyler and Sloane Brown, and beloved daughters-in-law Diane and Kristin. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry Burwood Brown and Kate Lange of Sedalia and youngest brother Frank. Lawrence was active in the Corvair Society of America, the Nobles of the Mystic Order of the Shrine - El Jebel Temple, Calvary Presbyterian Church, and the National Association of Investment Clubs. Private internment ceremony at Fort Logan National Cemetery. The family requests donations in his memory be sent to Shriners Hospitals for Children 800-241-GIFT.
