Lawrence Carrillo

November 27, 1928 — May 5, 2007

Lawrence Carrillo was born in Serene, Colorado, November 27, 1928. He was raised in both New Mexico and Denver, Colorado. Preceded in death by father Lawrence & mother Della Carrillo. He had 5 brother and 6 sisters. At the age of 17, his father signed his up to serve in the army, his years of service was 18 months. Most of his time was served in Japan during World War II, where he received a victory medal, Army occuptaion medal Japan. Daddy learned to speak and sing in Japanese. In 1949, Lawrence met Lupe Medina and was married in 1950. They had 3 sons and 5 daughters, 13 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Lawrence enjoyed all of his grandkids, he loved playing with them on the floor, where he would let them pull his hair (Oh what a sight it was when they were finished with him. His hair was sticking up all over the place.) Many times he would take his grandchildren to get an ice-cream from Dolly Madison, WHAT A TREAT THAT WAS. He would also make sure all of the grandchildren and great-grandchildren got to school and home safely by driving them himself. He was willing to help them with anything, like co-signing for our first cars. He was quite a joker. His favorite saying was "TA-UF (Tuff), "Shhh the baby is sleeping," times he would have a ball wrapped up in his arms holding it like a baby. He has touched so many hearts in every way. Memories of most are the songs he would sing in Japanese. These songs were being shared with their children. Daddy taught all of us to count in Japanese, only a couple of us mastered it. Lawrence worked for King Soopers and was a semi-truck driver and received a 10 year Safe Driving Award. He retired from working after 33 years. After retiring he suffered a stroke. He didn't let that stop him, he was still doing his yard work when he got well enough to do it, and very independent he was. We all were so blessed to have him in our life, as we all know he is shining down on us from heaven. A Poem by Crystal Roybal In Loving Memory of Lawrence Carrillo A million times we needed you, A million times we cried. If love could have saved you, You never could have died. God saw you were getting tired, And a cure was not meant to be. So he put his arms around you, And whispered, "COME WITH ME." With tearful eyes we watched you suffer, Then saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly we could not make you Stay. A golden heart was put to rest, And God broke our hears to prove HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST.
