Lawrence Grauberger

December 24, 1936 — February 17, 2022

Lawrence (Larry) Grauberger passed away at the age of 85 on February 17, 2022 in Englewood, Colorado.  He is survived by his three sons, Greg (Janet), Steve (Randy) and David; four grandsons, one sister (Beth Bristol) and numerous nieces and nephews.   He was able to see his three sons, their spouses and his four grandsons in his final days, and Greg and Steve were at his side when he passed.

Larry was born in Loveland, Colorado and grew up in South Denver where his father served as the minister of Evanston Evangelical United Brethren Church.  He attended South High School in Denver and transferred to Berthoud for his junior and senior years after a family move.  Larry was a 1954 graduate of Berthoud High School.  Larry attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa where he met his wife Marilyn.  He graduated from Westmar College in 1959.

Marilyn and Larry were married on June 6, 1959 and remained married until her passing in April, 2016.  Larry was a wonderful husband to Marilyn, father to his three sons and grandpa to his grandsons.  He took great interest and pride in their lives and enjoyed seeing them frequently.

Larry attended seminary in Illinois while working with troubled youth in Kane County, IL.  This work became his calling and he, Marilyn and son Greg moved back to Colorado in 1961 where Larry continued his career in Adams County, Arapahoe County and the State of Colorado Division of Youth Services.  Larry was an avid sports fan and held season tickets to the Broncos and Rockies for periods of time.

Service and faith were important components of Larry’s life and he was a lifelong member of the Evangelical United Brethren and United Methodist denominations.  Larry and Marilyn were deeply loved and respected leaders of the Evanston United Methodist Church and University Park United Methodist Church.  Larry’s remains will be inurned alongside Marilyn in the University Park United Methodist Church columbarium.
