Lawrence Gerald Hansen, Sr, (Gary or Butch) 69, passed away September 24, 2008, in Northglenn, Colorado. Larry was born August 31, 1939, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, a son of Lawrence Christian and Leona Linsmeyer Hansen. After graduation, Larry joined the U.S. Air Force and had basic and school training at Lacklnd AFB, Texas. His next assignment was to Fairchild AFB, WA. Next he went off to Korea for 13 months at Kusan AFB, right along the Red Sea. Not a good place to be! Larry's next assignment was Wurtsmith AFB, MI where he met his lovely and beautiful wife, SharonLee on a blind date. On their first date, Larry told SharonLee he would marry her or a girl just like her and she laughed. Well, he asked her to marry him less than a month later, she said yes, and they were married by Judge John J. Kehoe, Jr. on March 4, 1961, in Green Bay, Wisconsin. They had two children in Michigan and then were assigned to Sandia Bay, Albuquerque, NM where he was stationed for four years before being assigned oversees to Ramstein, Germany for five years having one more child. In 1972, Larry was reassigned to Lowry AFB, CO where he and SharonLee made their home in Northglenn and had their last child. He retired from the Air Force on September 1, 1978. After retiring, Larry worked for a lumber and hardware company where he was promoted to Assistant Store Manager. In 1981, he went to work for the U.S. Government in the Civil Service Field while also attending college. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Columbia College in October, 1986, and his Master's Degree in Computer Resource Management in December, 1988. He received a medical retirement from the Civil Service Air Reserve Personnel Center (ARPC) in October, 1995 after being diagnosed with ALS. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, SharonLee Newvine Hansen; four children: CamelleAnn ""Cam"" Murray; Lawrence Gerald Hansen, Jr.; AnnaMarie (Taber) Guyette; Alicia Christine Hansen; his mother, Leona Hansen; nine grandchildren: Zechariah Richard Hansen, Edward James Mrkvicka, Keasha Elaine Mrkvicka, Jeremiah Jacob Lawrence Hansen-Korrell, Jessica Ariel Hansen, Lawrence Gerald Hansen III, Dylan Terry Cuellar, Brenden Reed Guyette; and Ryan Lawrence Guyette; brother, Michael Hansen; sisters: Mona Micoliczyk; Barbara Piontek; B.J. Goral. Preceded in death by his father, Lawrence and a brother, Richard Hansen. A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 30th, 12 Noon, at the Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 9998 Grant Street, in Thornton, Colorado, followed by the burial at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Blvd, in Denver, at 2:00 p.m., staging area ""C"".
