Lawrence A. McPeek was born January 2, 1937 to Lester and Eleanor McPeek in Winfield, Kansas. He passed away at home after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was 87 years old.
Larry received his Bachelor of Science degree from Kansas University and his Masters degree in geological engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. He was well respected by his peers for his hard work and discoveries in the field of geology.
Larry loved family and was a devoted husband and father. He enjoyed fly fishing, any kind of snow skiing, reading, backpacking, biking, tennis, exploring and traveling. On road trips/camping trips he would teach about the geological land formations and sing funny songs. Larry and Kay had many wonderful trips together all over the world and made many friends. Larry and Kay were a team, married 65 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 older siblings. He is survived by his wife, Kay, daughters: Jennifer and Julia, 3 grandchildren: Fiona, Grant and Sean and several nieces and nephews.
Gravesite services will be held at the cemetery in Golden, Colorado on May 23 at 11:00am. Gathering of family and close friends will be held at their home in Genesee.
