Lawrence Neal Smart

December 5, 1942 — June 22, 2009

Larry, 66, of Lone Tree, Colorado died June 22, 2009 after a 10-year battle with cancer. Larry was born December 5, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. After college, Larry served in the Army as an intelligence specialist. He received an honorable discharge in 1968. After a long esteemed career with Xerox Corporation, Larry and his wife, Susan moved to Colorado in 1993 and founded Castle Timber Homes. They built over 150 custom homes. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Susan; son, Larry Jr.; daughter in law, Judith; granddaughters, Kyra and Lily, all of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; sister, Judy Flinn; niece, Cindy Baker; and nephew, Michael Flinn, all of Newport Beach, California; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and devoted friends. A celebration of his life will be held on Monday, June 29, 2009 at 12:00 p.m., at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 5303 East County Line Road (one block to the west of Holly Street), in Centennial, Colorado 80122. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy be made to Rocky Mountain Blood and Marrow Transplant Program, 1800 Williams Street, #300, Denver, Colorado 80218.
