LCDR Jerome 'Jerry' Gale Stahmer

March 6, 1924 — January 13, 2012

LCDR Jerome ""Jerry"" Gale Stahmer (Ret.) was born on March 6, 1924 in Oak Park, Illinois. He attended the University of Colorado before joining the Navy V-12 program. After attending the Navy Supply Corps School, Jerry served his country in WW II as a Supply Corps Officer and completed his business degree with credits obtained from the Harvard Business School and University of Colorado. He was released from active duty in 1946 but remained in the Naval Reserves until his return to active duty in 1951 during the Korean conflict. During his service, Jerry achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander before retiring from the Navy in 1970. Along with his distinguished military career, Jerry worked for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance for 43 years. In addition to his numerous professional successes, Jerry was President of the Santa Rita (AZ) and Littleton Kiwanis Clubs as well as a member of the Board of Directors of the Golden K Kiwanis Club. Jerry also started a scout troop for developmentally disabled scouts and devoted time to the Fort Collins Food Bank. Survived by his brother George Stahmer, Jerry was preceded in death by his sisters Harriet Webster and Kay Yarbrough. Jerry leaves his wife Martha and five children Linda, Richard (Judy), Jeffrey, Gregory (Denise) and Julie (Frank) Lansville. In addition, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A Graveside Service will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, Staging Area A, at 10:00am followed by a Memorial Service at Lakewood United Church of Christ, 100 Carr Street, Lakewood at 11:00am, both on Monday, January 23, 2012. A reception will follow the memorial service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jerry's name to the Community Foundation of Northern Colorado, C/O Poudre Golden K Kiwanis, PO Box 2335, Ft.
