Lee Duran

July 14, 1937 — December 14, 2021

Lakewood, Colorado

Lee Herbert Duran, 84, passed on December 14, 2021.

Born in Denver, Colorado on July 14, 1937 to Ezequiel and Lucy Cruz Duran. He was born in a humble home under the Colfax viaduct, which he liked to say "I was born under the star" as the Star Bakery was across the street. He has one brother, Kenny whom he helped raise after his mom passed when he was 15 years old. His father passed in 1973, as the last of Lee's four sons were born.

Lee had a passion for work which he started at the early age of 9 as the KOA elevator boy and was also a paper boy. He joined the Navy and served for four years in Hawaii, and always said he enjoyed every day of his service. He served on the Hassayampa and always appreciated his Navy reunions with his shipmates.

In 1959 after returning from the Navy, he met the love of his life, Anna Romero. They were married April 18,1960. They had four sons, and spent over 45 years living in Hilldale Pines in Morrison, Colorado. Lee worked at Lockheed Martin for 39 years as a Refrigeration Mechanic and was very proud to be part of the UAW Union. After his retirement in 1998, he built another home in Hilldale Pines and had plenty of time to spend with his 8 grandchildren each of whom he was so proud of. He and Anna became snowbirds in Florida where they made many treasured friends and gave their family countless years of memories playing in the pool, fishing off the dock and boating in the waters of Port St. Lucie.

Lee enjoyed traveling, fishing, boating and swimming. He was a devout Catholic and very faith driven. He was a dedicated husband and father and his greatest joy was being a grandfather and spending time with his beautiful bride. He had eternal love for his family.

Lee is survived by his wife of 61 years, Anna; children, Mark 58, (Paulette), Matthew 56, Luke 52, (Shannon L.), and Jon 48, (Shannon E.). His eight grandchildren, Kyle (Akaysha), Brandon (Hannah), Conner, Jordan (Clay), Levien, Danae, Grant, Cheyanna, and Maija. He also welcomed a great-grandson in 2020, Ferrus.
