Married 41 years to his loving wife Janyce. During those years we went to Yellowstone twice, the canyon lands of Utah and many road trips to South Dakota where his parents lived. After his dad passed, we would take vacations to see his mom, sometimes with Chris, Layne and Clay. Even though he didn’t care for fishing he always went with us either shore fishing or on his dad’s or Chris’s boats. From South Dakota we would drive to Minnesota to see my family. Whenever my family would visit, we would take them on road trips around Colorado. he enjoyed going gambling in Cripple Creek.
When he first retired to took up reading. He read over 350 books, he would go to the library or 2 or 3 times a week. Later he installed the library app on his tablet. Some of the books he read was the Harry Potter series and detective stories.
He took up golf with some of the guys from the locate bar. His family was very surprised because you need patience for golf, and he had none. One of the golf outings I walked the course with him. One time he made a hole-in-one, when he was telling me about it, he was so excited.
He liked watching his favorite team the Vikings play when they were shown here. He enjoyed watching Nascar, hockey, Motor trend and sometimes even the Broncos. He wasn’t a huge baseball fan, but we did go to a few games with Chris, Layne & Clay, he especially liked the firework games when we got to sit on the field. He would watch the Rockies and the World Series with me, because he knew I was obsessed with baseball.
He worked many different jobs when he was a young man, sometimes two at a time. He worked at Honeywell for 8 years and at Norgrens for 24 years. He retired at the age of 62.
His real love was becoming a grandpa (B-Pa, as Clay decided to call him). He was so happy when Clay started to walk and started getting old. He bought a swing set for Clay and they would see-saw together. Clay started playing soccer and baseball, he was at almost every game.
He was very good at math and liked numbers, at one time he thought about becoming an account. He liked doing sudoku puzzles and taught Clay how to do them.
He loved dogs and had several during his life. He played cribbage with his grandmother, mom & dad. During 2020 we would put puzzles together.
