Obituary for Lee Eddie Starnes Lee Eddie Starnes of Aurora, Colorado, born in Vashti Texas on July 24, 1929 passed away on April 28, 2016. He is preceded in death by the love of his life and wife Fredda (McNeely) Starnes, his parents Forrest Paul and Eula Grace (Donnell) Starnes, brother Billy Don Starnes, and sister-in-law Louise Wages. Lee is survived by his daughter Leigh Bessey, granddaughter Erin (Bessey) Gangloff and her husband Kurt Gangloff, great granddaughter Aubrey Leigh Gangloff, son-in-law and friend Tim Bessey, sister Mary Louise Kostecki, sister-in-law Varue Starnes and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved his four girls with all of his heart. The time he spent with his family was precious and forever cherished. Starnes graduated from North Texas University in 1955 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education Administration and Political Science. In 1958 he earned a Master of Education degree with an emphasis in International Relations from Midwestern State University. He served two years in active duty with the United States Army during the occupation of Germany, four years in the United States Naval Reserve, and six years in the United States Army Reserve. He was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He retired from Federal Service where he served with the Armed Forces Intelligence Center for 30 years. After retirement he was employed as a teacher and substitute teacher in Adams County School District 14 for over 17 years. After retirement from both professions he remained active golfing, reading, walking, traveling, cooking and spending time with family and friends. One of his greatest joys was playing golf with his Granddaughter Erin during the summers and spending time with his daughter and son-in-law. One of his dearest pleasures was when his wife chauffeured his golf cart which created some memorable experiences. He loved people and especially children and never missed an opportunity to work with them. Teaching young children was extremely important to him and of great enjoyment. Starnes was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Denver, Colorado and the Ambassadors Church School Class. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. at Horan & McConaty, 11150 E. Dartmouth Ave. Aurora, Colorado on Tuesday, May 3. Visitation at Davis Funeral Home in Henrietta, Texas will be May 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a Graveside Services on May 6, 10 a.m. at Hope Cemetery, Henrietta, Texas. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, 6500 E.
