Lela M. Thompson, 98, passed away on May 27, 2022.
Mrs. Thompson was a stylish, vivacious and caring person. She learned to garden on the family farm as a child, cultivating a passion for the outdoors and gift for raising plants that she enjoyed her entire life. She was fascinated by advancements over her lifetime, especially in telecommunications from word of mouth, through party lines in her career as a switchboard operator, and to instantly available information today. She was a devoted grandmother and great grandmother, beloved by all. She was most proud of being a mother to her son and daughter.
Survivors include son, Jim Thompson and wife Becky; daughter, Donna Young and husband Chris; three granddaughters and six great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Thompson; five sisters; and one brother.
Memorial Service to be held on Friday, June 10, 2022 at 11am at Johnson Ferry Baptist Church, 955 Johnson Ferry Road, Marietta, GA 30068.
Funeral Service is on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at 1pm at Horan & McConaty Family Chapel, 11150 E. Dartmouth Avenue, Aurora, Colorado 80014. For those unable to attend in person, her funeral will be live-streamed at the following link: https://bxcited.com/lela-thompson/
Graveside Service is on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 9am at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 South Sheridan Boulevard, Denver, Colorado, staging area "A".
