Lela Joan Fryman, 89, of Littleton, Colorado, passed away December 26, 2021. She was born April 10, 1932, in Nebraska to Joseph Raymond and Lela Viola Meredith Blackstone.
Lela was an amazing cook and shared her love of cooking with many. She owned Aunt Jo’s Pie shop in Ogallala, Nebraska for many years, making and serving lunches, bakery goods and candy.
She met and married Melvin Fryman in Denver where they made their home and raised their family.
While in Denver, Lela worked as a caterer with Le Petite Gourmet catering. At home and with family and friends, she continued to share her love of cooking. Her nieces and nephews always declared that Aunt Jo made the best green chili ever!
Besides her love of cooking, Lela loved to read, she enjoyed spending time in the garden tending to her beautiful flowers, and she loved to travel. She remembered fondly traveling to Germany when Michele and Rich lived there.
Lela had great love for her family and took great care of them and the family pets. She is loved and will be deeply missed by many family members and friends
She is survived by two children, Michele Delk (her husband, Richard) and Mitchel Fryman (his wife, Robin); grandchildren, Kelsey and Shanley; sisters, Betty Forsstrom and Vonnie Blackstone; and many other extended family members and friends.
