Leland Floyd Thormahlen, 72 of Centennial Colorado passed away on June 2, 2017. Leland was born August 26, 1944 in Worcester Massachusetts to Al and Pauline Thormahlen. Leland is preceded in death by his parents along with his sister. He is survived by wife Judy of 52 years. Son Douglas (Pamela) Thormahlen; Daughter Angela Thormahlen (Brian Keller); Grandchildren Caley, Calvin, Cooper, AJ, Madison and Jaclynn; Great Grandchildren Emmett and Avery; Mother-in-law Clara Wittmer; Sister Marsha (Joe) Banderob and Brothers Kenny and Terry Thormahlen. Leland dedicated 40 years of service working for the federal government in the department of the Interior. He began in 1963 as a surveyor. By the time Leland had retired he was the Chief of Minerals Management Services. At Leland's leisure he volunteered as a Naturalist for 40 years including Wildlife Experience in Parker, CO, Roxborough State Park, and Cherokee Ranch in Sedalia, CO. Leland built Blue Bird boxes, Batboxes and numerous trails all over Colorado. Leland was honored as an award winning Wildlife Wood Sculpture. He won numerous ""Best in Show"" Ribbons at Statewide Art Shows. Many of Leland's sculptures have found homes across the country. Leland Also enjoyed hiking and bird watching. Services for Leland will be held at Friday June 9th at 11AM followed by reception at Horan & McConaty Funeral Home (11150 E. Dartmouth Ave Aurora, CO 80014).
