Leon S. Brin

Leon ""Sonny"" Brin passed away peacefully at his home in Denver on May 22, 2010. He was born in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, July 31, 1925 and was raised in the apartment above his father's furniture store in Webster City, Iowa. He attended the University of Colorado and in 1949 received a degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. At twenty-eight years old, he was the youngest architect in Colorado to have his own firm, which he operated continuously until 1984. His office produced over 600 projects including office, retail, apartment and industrial buildings. He also developed townhomes and residential projects. His family and friends, tennis, skiing, golf, and the performing arts were great pleasures to him. He regularly attended chamber music, symphony, opera and theatre. He also had a keen interest in politics. He is survived by daughter Taina, son Theo, his older sister Trudy, his younger brother Bradley, four granddaughters, and his beloved Donna Paul. A gathering of family and friends will occur at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Shalom/ Horan & McConaty located at South Colorado Blvd. and Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Friends of Chamber Music, 458 Grape Street Denver, CO 80220-5232, or Jewish Family Services, 3201 South Tamarac Street, Denver 80231-4394.
