Leon W. Moniot

April 14, 1942 — October 13, 2013

Leon William Moniot, 71, of Denver, died Sunday. He was born to the late Clarence and Velda Moniot, April 14, 1942, in San Francisco, CA. Leon graduated from Lowell High School in 1960 and received a BA in Communication from San Francisco State College in 1969. He married Joan Veronica Inglis in 1966, and they lived together in San Francisco, before relocating to Phoenix, Arizona in 1972; Little Rock, Arkansas in 1983; and then finally settling in Denver in 1994. Leon was a television news director/producer until 1986, and then taught himself to be a computer software engineer, initially serving as a missionary for Campus Crusade for Christ Family Ministry, and then later working for such companies as Diners Club, American Express, ADP and Military Car Sales Group. He was passionate about learning new things, and had been interested in computers since he was a teenager, so he highly enjoyed his second career. Leon was an active member of St. Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, serving as a Psalti (Chanter) during Liturgy. He loved music, having performed as a young man with opera star Beverly Sills. Leon is survived by his wife Joan and their six children and two grandchildren: Robert and Stephanie Moniot and their daughter Julia of Tijuana, Noel and Katherine Moniot of Little Rock, Suzette Moniot and her son Ian of Denver, and Philip Moniot of Los Angeles. Leon is also survived by 4 brothers and 2 sisters: Rene, Ralph, Paul, Edmund, John and Martina.
