Leonard J ""Bud"" Bassett, 86 years of age, passed away suddenly on July 30, 2015. He was born on July 10, 1929 in Nameoki, Illinois to Mary Caroline Foster Bassett and Leonard J Bassett, Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was graduated from the University of Missouri in 1951 with a major in Marketing. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps for three years with one year of duty in Korea, he went to work for Phillips Petroleum Co. Bud eventually went into the investment business, working for several different investment brokerage firms in Minneapolis before his retirement. Bud is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Kohlmeyer Bassett; daughter, Sharon Bassett; son, John Bassett (Susan); three grandchildren, Mark Bassett (Erin), Claire Reifert (Alex), Joyce Bassett; and three great grandchildren, Kate and Anne Bassett, and James Reifert. Upon retirement Bud and Ruth moved to Denver, CO to watch their grandchildren grow up and to enjoy the mountains---especially cross country skiing in the winter months. Bud, along with his beloved traveling companion, Ruth, enjoyed many trips across the country and around the world. Bud was a long time member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, Bud's family requests donations to the St. Andrew Youth Program or a charity of your choice in his honor. A memorial service will be held on August 4, 2015 at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew United Methodist Church, 9203 S. University Blvd. Highlands Ranch, CO 80126.
